My camera has been able to allow me to meet tons of interesting people and witness events that I would never had experienced if I was not taking photos. In January, I had the privilege of taking photos for Musicopia, a non-profit that brings music education into the classrooms of Philadelphia schools. Over the past thirty years, children have been able to be exposed to music despite the cuts in funding for the arts due to drastic school budget cuts over the years. I learned about the organization through my friend Erica, who is the Marketing Manager for Musicopia. I encourage you to learn more about Musicopia and find out how you can keep music in the classroom!
To raise money for their program, Musicopia held a special fundraising dinner where the internationally renown English Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Mark Laycock, performed with students taking part in the Musicopia experience. The following night, the English Chamber Orchestra performed again at the Kimmel Center, which I was graciously given a ticket by the Musicopia for my photography. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the fundraising dinner, and of the performance!
