A few days past 2016, but some of my favorite shots from a year that kept me forcing to find the bright spots in the middle of struggle.
My camera has been able to allow me to meet tons of interesting people and witness events that I would never had experienced if I was not taking photos. In January, I had the privilege of taking photos for Musicopia, a non-profit that brings music education into the classrooms of Philadelphia schools. Over the past thirty years, children have been able to be exposed to music despite the cuts in funding for the arts due to drastic school budget cuts over the years. I learned about the organization through my friend Erica, who is the Marketing Manager for Musicopia. I encourage you to learn more about Musicopia and find out how you can keep music in the classroom!
To raise money for their program, Musicopia held a special fundraising dinner where the internationally renown English Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Mark Laycock, performed with students taking part in the Musicopia experience. The following night, the English Chamber Orchestra performed again at the Kimmel Center, which I was graciously given a ticket by the Musicopia for my photography. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the fundraising dinner, and of the performance!
The first post of 2015! Within 24 hours of publishing my insane list of 365 things I wanted to do in 365, I gave myself a panic attack. Honestly, not surprising. But then after a recommendation from a friend, I decided to break the list into things to accomplish each month month. Thankfully, that made things less overwhelming and my enthusiasm for the project was restored!
Here are the things I’ve been able to check off the list so far….
I take a lot of photos. And I mean thousands, each year. Before getting a point and shoot in 2004, I always had a disposable camera around. Now with cell phones, and my DSLR, my photo obsession as grown even more. Here are a few of my favorite personal shots from 2014. Even though it was a tough year, there were many memorable moments!
These are a few of my favorite photos I took this year, mainly through my work at Philabundance!
